Sonja and Jane’s joint birthday bash — one of our many excuses for throwing awesome dance parties. This year the SonJaneFest theme was 80s prom, and the girls definitely took that theme seriously.

A few weeks ago I spent a rainy Sunday afternoon in Grove City with my sister and her family. This will be baby Caydence’s first Christmas, so Melissa wanted some photographs to remember it by.

Bazan at Southgate House

Last week, Frankie and I drove down to Covington to see David Bazan perform at the Southgate House, probably our favorite Cincinnati-area venue. Bazan is the former frontman of Pedro the Lion, a band which commanded a considerable amount of my CD player’s time in high school. Quiet, shoegaze indie rock at it’s finest. We’re both fans of Bazan’s solo stuff, but his Pedro songs will forever be linked to some of my best coming-of-age moments.

A Renaissance afternoon

Frankie and I spent the afternoon at the Renaissance Festival in Harveysburg on Sunday. A fella couldn’t ask for a better place to people watch. If only my camera could do the scenes justice.

I’m definitely not content with my images from the day, considering the barrage of awesome visuals at every turn. A return trip is in order.

I’ve driven past this barn door for years and wanted to photograph in front of it for almost as long. Frankie humored me the other night and posed for a few portraits while I tried some different lighting set ups. She’s a trooper.

Fall Fest and a crazy sunset
